Online Degree Choices For LPNs and LVNs To Be An RN
LPNs and LVNs who want to earn a degree in order to be an RN have a few choices to make first. One of the first choices to make for the LPN or LVN is do they want to earn an associates degree in order to be an RN? Or does the LPN or LVN want to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing in order to be an RN?
It appears the different options lead the LPN or LVN to be an RN, however there is a difference. Generally if an RN would like to someday advance in there career higher up the ladder then only becoming an RN they may wish to move up into a management level. In order to do so it appears common that the RN would likely need to have a Bachelors degree (BSN) under their belt.
Therefore when deciding which degree to choose keep that in mind. If you are a licensed practical nurse and only want to become a registered nurse with no plans to ever move into a management position then an Online LPN to RN option may work fine for your goals. However if you do wish to someday advance into management, then you may wish to consider an LPN to BSN Online option.
Similar to LPNs, if you are a licensed vocational nurse (LVN) and only have a goal to become a registered nurse (i.e., you do not wish to go into management), then the Online LVN to RN option will likely be something that would work for you. Then again, if you do wish you go into management, you may want to consider a LVN to BSN Online option.
Whatever you decide, make sure to ask lots of questions about the programs are you considering. Each program is different and therefore you should seek to fully understand them and if they will meet your career goals.
